Seven Years Strong: Masbate Gold Project Reaches a World-Class Safety Milestone

November 16, 2025

On November 16, 2025, B2Gold’s Masbate Gold Project (MGP) in the Philippines achieved a remarkable milestone — seven consecutive years, or 44.9 million worker hours (employees and contractors), without a single Lost Time Injury (LTI).

This achievement places MGP among an elite group of mining operations worldwide that have sustained such an exceptional level of safety performance. It’s not a result of chance or convenience — it’s the outcome of discipline, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way, every day.

A Culture of Safety and Responsibility

At the heart of this success is a safety culture that goes beyond compliance — one that’s embedded in every decision, action, and conversation on site. The team at Masbate lives by B2Gold’s values of fairness, respect, transparency, and accountability, applying them daily to protect themselves, their colleagues, and their communities.

Achieving this milestone required every individual to take ownership of safety and to actively contribute to an environment where everyone looks out for one another. From pre-start meetings to leadership safety observations, safety at Masbate is not a checkbox — it’s a shared purpose.

A Framework for Excellence

The Masbate Gold Project is comprised of two companies: Phil. Gold, a 100% subsidiary of B2Gold Corp., which operates the processing plant located at the MGP, and Filminera, a Filipino company that operates the mine which B2Gold holds a 40% interests in.

Ryan Rusk, President of Phil. Gold said “Reaching seven years LTI-free in a high-risk industry is extraordinarily rare. It stands as a powerful testament to what we can accomplish when we work together with a single purpose: ensuring that everyone goes home safe and healthy at the end of every shift.”

Masbate’s success is built on a structured, proactive approach that ensures:

  1. Safety Management is operationalized and practiced by all.
  2. Safety Culture drives both individual and collective accountability.
  3. Values-Based Leadership empowers employees to make the right health and safety decisions, every shift.
  4. Prevention Activities are consistently performed and tracked, building a strong foundation for long-term success.

Over the past seven years, the site has recorded impressive results that speak to this dedication:

  • 20,853 Pre-Start Safety Crew Talks
  • 9,352 Inspections
  • 5,208 Leadership Safety Observations
  • 1,967 Individual Training Sessions
  • 2,525,817 Worker, Supervisor, and HOD Corrective Action Hazard IDs
  • 5,033 High-Risk Corrective Actions

Each of these activities represents time, focus, and care — the cumulative effort of hundreds of people working together toward one goal: zero harm.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

This world-class safety record is a testament to the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of everyone at Masbate. It reflects the deep-rooted belief that every task can be done safely, and every person deserves to return home unharmed.

“This milestone was not reached by chance but through the hard work, vigilance, and dedication of every individual on site. Safety at MGP is not just a policy — it is a culture lived daily through leadership commitment, values-based decision-making, and proactive prevention,” said Cris Acosta, President of Filminera.

To every employee and contractor who contributed to this incredible achievement — thank you. Your dedication has set a new benchmark for operational excellence in the mining industry and continues to demonstrate what’s possible when safety truly comes first.
